Bleached My Hair….

Seeing as other people were getting their hair bleached I thought I’d give it a go with my beard aswell!

The beard bleaching was dreadful. Not that it burned my face but the amonia went up my nose and was burning my lungs and throat! I had to have cotton buds put up my nose but then I started breathing it in through my mouth. I can’t describe what it felt like to breathe in fire with every breath – but it was like breathing in fire with every breath.

The beard didn’t colour as well. I think this was due to using a lower 10% bleach so it didn’t strip my skin off my face. I’ll be tidying it up before I go but thought I’d give you a cheeky update.

T-1 days until I leave John O’Groats to head to Land’s End.

1 Month and Counting

And I’m shitting bricks.

I’ve still got loads to organise and I hope to start getting these ticked off. Once the clothes arrive I will do a few journeys round town. I know I’ll look stupid but I could do with the practice.

I think I might get some mirrors too as they are only £20 (ish) off ebay and could help my safety.

Finally, I need to fix my pedal start. I’ll be moving the bike into the kitchen to work on this while we have this crappy weather. It can still be bump-started but I think I’ll soon get bored of doing that.

If the clothes arrive soon I might have some more photos for you to enjoy. Lucky you guys!

Jogle Blog – Richards JOGLE

I found this one of a guy solo cycling the route.

Its a good story and tells quite a bit of the troubles a lot of bikers had. He has some good advice on the mapping but I think our group of moped-ers will be led by Tom Tom. Or at least I hope we are.

He does mention that he had little problem with phone signal so was able to blog via his phone which is useful to know.

Trying to find other JOGLE’s – Especially on mopeds.

Perhaps I’m searching incorrectly. Perhaps my Jedi Google-skills are weak. Or perhaps its not something that’s been attempted before.

I’ve been trying to find blogs of other people who have done the JOGLE trip, but mainly those who have done it on a moped. I’ve stretched it out slightly to include scooters (ie larger than 49cc engines) but I really am having difficulty finding blogs to read.

I read a blog last week of 2 people who did JOGLE by bike. Reading their journey is inspirational and the joy they had reaching the finish line really came across well on their blog.

At the weekend I read another blog of someone who did LEJOG by bike by himself. He had a helmet cam and there is some good footage which he has turned into a video to show his entire trip. This gave me the idea of getting a helmet-cam for the trip but they generally only have 1.5 hours battery life which when we will be having 6-8 hour days means either 4 cams on rotation (which isn’t cheap) or a way of charging them on the move, which would take it from a helmet cam to a bike came.
